ABOUT THE FARM STAND

From our fields to your table

A community grocery store operated by Farming is Life — a certified-organic, regenerative farm in Winchendon, MA.

Who we are

The Farm Stand is the retail face of Farming is Life — a family vegetable farm using regenerative practices and avoiding all chemicals and plastics. We sit at 244 School Street in Winchendon, Massachusetts, adjacent to over 4,000 acres of state-owned forest land.

What started as a way to get our own harvest to our neighbors has grown into a full grocery store. Today, alongside what we grow ourselves, we stock locally-sourced goods from neighboring farms and small producers who share our commitment to sustainable, chemical-free methods.

Why regenerative

Our mission is deeply rooted in our local community, and extends to Boston and the surrounding region: provide nourishing, sustainably-grown, and naturally-cultivated produce. We enrich soil, foster biodiversity, and nurture healthier ecosystems while delivering food that actually tastes like something.

What we grow

In 2025 we're growing heirloom tomatoes, potatoes, cucumbers, garlic, onions, summer squash, Swiss chard, carrots, peppers, turnips, beans, pumpkins, winter squash, corn, and a full herb garden. Fruit crops include pears, strawberries, blueberries, and concord grapes. We use selective seed procurement and land-race techniques to cultivate varieties adapted to our local microclimate — so we can grow things you won't find in a supermarket.
