What is The Farm Stand?
The Farm Stand is the retail outlet of Farming is Life, a certified-organic regenerative farm in Winchendon, MA. It's a community grocery store stocking our own harvest plus locally-grown produce and groceries from neighboring farmers who use sustainable methods. We carry bulk items at competitive prices, an extensive selection of natural and organic wine, and a rotating shelf of local craft beer.
What is Farming is Life?
We are a family vegetable farm in Winchendon, MA that uses regenerative farming practices while avoiding all chemicals and plastics.
Where are you located?
244 School Street, Winchendon, MA 01475. The Farm Stand shares the property with the farm itself. We're a short drive from Gardner, Athol, Templeton, Royalston, Fitchburg, Ashburnham, and points across the North Central Massachusetts region — including folks coming across from Rindge and Jaffrey, NH.
What are your hours?
Thursday through Sunday, 10am–6pm. We're closed Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Call ahead at 978-616-9955 if you want to confirm hours for the current season.
Do you accept SNAP / EBT?
Yes — we accept SNAP on eligible items. Organic produce, dairy, bread, bulk staples, and most pantry goods are all SNAP-eligible. Bring your EBT card and we'll take it at the register like any other form of payment.
Where can I buy natural wine near Winchendon?
You're in the right place. The Farm Stand carries one of the most curated natural wine selections in North Central Massachusetts — low-intervention, organic, and biodynamic bottles from family-owned vineyards and artisan winemakers. See our wine selection →
Do you sell local IPAs and craft beer?
Yes — we keep a rotating selection of New England IPAs, Massachusetts craft beer, lagers, pale ales, and farmhouse styles from small breweries near us. Beer turns over fast so the shelf is different most weekends. See our beer selection →
Which local Massachusetts breweries do you carry?
Our craft beer shelf rotates based on what's available from local and regional Massachusetts breweries and distributors. Stop in to see what's cold this weekend, or call 978-616-9955 and we'll tell you what's on the shelf.
Do you have organic or biodynamic wine?
Yes — most of our wine selection is organic, natural, or biodynamic. We prioritize bottles from vineyards farming without chemicals, using native yeasts, and making wine with minimal intervention. If you want help choosing something, ask at the register — somebody will know.
Can I mix a six-pack?
Yes. If you want to try a handful of new beers rather than commit to a full 4-pack of something unfamiliar, ask at the register and we'll help you put a pack together across our selection.
Where can I buy organic groceries in Winchendon?
Right here. The Farm Stand is the only certified-organic-forward grocery store in Winchendon, carrying organic produce, local dairy, fresh bread, bulk goods (heirloom beans, grains, flours), and pantry staples — many from our own farm and neighboring producers. Browse departments →
Do you offer bulk goods?
Yes — we carry a broad bulk section with heirloom beans, whole grains, organic flours, rice, oats, and pantry staples. Buy the amount you need and skip the packaging markup. Bulk is one of the best ways to eat organic on a real household budget.
What are you growing on the farm this year?
For 2025: heirloom tomatoes, potatoes, cucumbers, garlic, onions, summer squash, Swiss chard, carrots, peppers, turnips, beans, pumpkins, winter squash, corn, herbs — plus pears, strawberries, blueberries, and concord grapes.
Can I visit the farm itself?
We are not currently accepting unscheduled visits because we are a working farm. However, we host volunteer events, farm classes, and scheduled tours — check the events calendar for upcoming opportunities.
Where does the produce come from?
Some is grown right across the property at Farming is Life. The rest is sourced from neighboring farms and producers who share our commitment to sustainable, chemical-free methods. Everything on our shelves is chosen with nutritional value, flavor, and local impact in mind.
Do you have a CSA program?
Farming is Life runs seasonal CSA programs and box subscriptions. Check our CSA page for current options, pricing, and sign-up windows.
